Facebook (FB) is working on a new tool to stop users from posting stolen videos.

facebook-videos-fbThe new tool being made by Facebook to stop stolen videos from being circulated around its platform will look over video content and compare it to already existing videos uploaded by publishers. This is very similar to the Content ID tool that Google (GOOG,GOOGL) uses to monitor videos on YouTube.

Facebook says that the new tool isn’t ready yet, but that it will be testing a beta version of it with certain content creators in the near future. The social media company claims that the tool will be able to “quickly and accurately” discover stolen videos and will let content creators flag them for removal.

Facebook already has other tools that are already working to protect videos on its website. This includes a team up with Audible Magic to check the sound of a video for matching parts. The company says that it’s working closer with the tool’s developers to make it work better on its platform.
