U2 Singer Bono a Billionaire After Facebook Investment

Bono is a billionaire thanks to a smart investment he made with Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) in 2009.

U2He bought a 2.3% share in the social media site for $85 million, which is now worth a whopping $1.4 billion. In his six years investing on Facebook, the U2 singer has made more money than he did in his entire music career, spanning more than 40 years.

Bono is also officially the world’s richest rock star, ahead of Paul McCartney — worth $1.12 billion — and Madonna, worth $800 million.

He has an ethical clothing company launched in 2005 that recently took a bad turn, losing close to $68 million.

FB stock is down 1.74% Monday.
