apple-rumors-headphone-jack-patent-aaplSold: Apple (AAPL) has officially sold out all versions of its iPhone 6s and 6s Plus worldwide, reports 9to5Mac. The tech company hasn’t said exactly how many of the new iPhones it had available for preorder, but it did say that sales were on target to surpass the 10 million iPhone 6 and 6 Plus smartphones that were available for preorder last year. It also said that preorder sales have been going really well for the smartphones. Customers that have yet to get a preorder of the iPhone 6s or 6s Plus may still be able to get one from an Apple Store location when it launches on Friday.

Delivery: One iPhone 6s customer has already received their new smartphone, MacRumors notes. Adrienne Alpern shared pictures of her new Rose Gold iPhone 6s on Twitter (TWTR) Monday. The lucky customer lives in San Diego, Calif., and preordered her Rose Gold iPhone 6s through AT&T (T). Alpern was nice enough to share benchmarks for the new smartphone and also uploaded a 4K video taken with the device to her Twitter account.

Jack: Apple may be looking to make iPhones even thinner by shrinking down the headphone jack, reports AppleInsider. The company has filed a patent for a headphone plug that is smaller than the current 3.5mm and 2.5mm standards. This new plug features a “D” shape with one side being flat and the other being rounded. The plug’s diameter comes in at 2mm, making it a decent bit smaller than current headphone plugs. This change also means that headphones with the new plug could only be inserted into the headphone jack one way. It’s unknown if the new headphone jack and plug will ever be used by the company, but it wouldn’t be surprising as part of Apple effort to make thinner devices.
