Yum Brands’ (YUM) Taco Bell now features a certified vegetarian menu.

taco-bell-vegetarian-yumTo be fair, Taco Bell has been serving vegetarians meals for some time. The real change here is that it was recently certified as having menu that includes meals certified by the American Vegetarian Association. This makes it the first fast food restaurant to receive certification from the group.

Taco Bell’s menu features 13 meals that have been certified as vegetarian. Customers also have the ability to customize their meals with vegetarian ingredients. There are 35 certified ingredients for vegetarians to use and 26 of them are also vegan.

Taco Bell recently introduced its new website “ta.co” and it allows customers to order meals online and cutomize them to their hearts’ content. It can also save orders so users don’t have to remake their favorite item every time they visit the site.

Taco Bell has also been working to expand its menu recently. This includes testing alcohol at one location and introducing a chicken taco shell. It’s also jumped into the delivery game with 200 stores that support the service.
