Wednesday Apple Rumors: Apple Confirms Faceshift Acquisition

Speculation that the tech company acquired Faceshift, which handles real-time motion capture, was going around earlier this year. At the time, AAPL simply said that it sometimes acquires smaller companies and that it doesn’t comment on these matters. However, it has now confirmed the acquisition in a recent statement. It’s unknown what exactly it plans to do with the company.

OrdersJiangsu Changjiang Electronics Technology, also known as JCET, has won assembly orders from Apple for 2016, AppleInsider notes. The orders that JCET, which is a Chinese company, won from AAPL was for the assembly of system-in-package (SiP) modules. It’s unknown exactly what the orders from the tech company will be for, but it could be for the Apple Watch. JCET is the largest company that handles testing of semiconductors packaging and test services. It’s possible this could be a sign that of the company expecting a large amount of products that use SIP modules.

China: Apple has reportedly reached a preliminary agreement with China UnionPay, reports Bloomberg. The agreement between the two companies would allow Apple Pay to be used with China UnionPay’s point-of-sales system. The agreement has yet to be finalized, but UnionPay is reportedly interested in bring Pay to China in early 2016. This falls in line with previous rumors that the service would launch in China in February. Banks in China are reportedly unsure of signing on with the tech company for the service due to transaction fees and its low number of users.
