Alphabet’s (GOOG,GOOGL) YouTube has accused T-Mobile (TMUS) of throttling its video streams.

youtube-t-mobile-goog-goog-tmusYouTube claims that T-Mobile is lowering its video resolutions as part of its Binge On plan, which doesn’t charge users for streaming videos from certain sources, but also limits resolutions. YouTube isn’t a part of this agreement, but it claims its videos are being affected by it, reports The Wall Street Journal.

“Reducing data charges can be good for users, but it doesn’t justify throttling all video services, especially without explicit user consent,” a YouTube spokesman told WSJ.

Binge On wasn’t out long before YouTube had complaints about it. T-Mobile released Binge On back in early November. The idea behind that plan is that it will save users data by reducing video stream quality to DVD levels and making it so that some streaming services don’t affect data. Users that aren’t part of the plan can still get access to the reduced streaming quality to save data.
