Mattel (MAT) has shown off a new line of Barbies that add various body sizes to the doll lineup.
The new line of Barbies from Mattel are called Fashionistas. This line adds three new body types –tall, petite and curvy– to the toy line. The original body type for Barbie will also still be included in this set.
The new set of Barbies from Mattel are currently available for preorder exclusively from the company’s online store. Base dolls with one outfit cost $9.99 a piece and those that come with extra accessories are $19.99.
Mattel is likely hoping that introducing the three new body types to its Barbies line of toys will help increase sales. There are seven different skin tones, 22 eye colors and 24 hairstyles in the Fashionistas line, reports Los Angeles Times.
