Niantic, the spinoff from Alphabet Inc’s (NASDAQ:GOOG,NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google that developed the game, has started banning players that are tricking Pokemon GO‘s GPS. This can be done with the help of a third-party app and is used to catch different Pokemon. It also has a major use of making egg hatching in the game much easier.

Pokemon Go players have a chance of obtaining eggs from PokeStops while playing the game. These eggs come in three different varieties and each one requires the player to walk either 2km, 5km or 10km before they hatch into a Pokemon.

The first report of a person being permanently banned for using a third-party app in Pokemon Go comes from Yibada. The player claims they received message stating that they were banned “for use of third party applications to alter the real/actual position of the GPS.”

Pokemon Go players can also be banned from the game if they sell their account or modify the game with third-party software. This also likely includes tracker apps that show Pokemon positions in the game, such as Pokevision. Niantic has said it doesn’t approve of these type of apps.

Pokemon Go players that still want help, but don’t want banned for cheating, do have other options. We have a list of accessories to help with the game. There’s also an official accessory from Nintendo called Pokemon Go Plus that will be released in September. Trainers can also find a list of the most powerful Pokemon in the game at this link.
