The Pokemon Go glitch was revealed in a Reddit forum where players were complaining about the exploit being used by one player in New York City. This player, kikmeNetopsG, has been capturing gyms all across the city and placing unhatched eggs in them.

Eggs in Pokemon Go don’t have any CP or moves. This means that players can’t choose to battle the egg. Not being able to battle means that the egg can’t be kicked out of the gym. This allows the users to rack up coins easily, which can be used to buy items from the in-game shop.

The Pokemon Go player behind the eggs fiasco in NYC is only a level 5. This is the lowest a player can be to get into a gym. It’s likely that this is an account used solely for the purpose of placing eggs in gyms. The player is probably placing Pokemon from their main account in the gyms after putting an egg in them.

Those on the Reddit forum believe that kikmeNetopsG must have altered the game’s API to get their eggs into gyms. This would mean that the invincible eggs being put in gyms is more of a hack than a glitch. One user in the forum also notes that this player has shown up taking over gyms in Central London, which lends credence to the theory that they’re hacking Pokemon Go.

Pokemon Go trainers can report the players using eggs to hold a gym. However, there’s no solution to taking the gyms back until developer Niantic does something about the problem.
