The music streaming app had a loyal slew of customers, but it simply did not garner enough subscriptions to compete with rival services such as Pandora (NYSE:P) and Tidal. Milk Music was behind its competitors in what features it offered, including video.

The company actually included video in the app, but removed it last year. Part of the Samsung product’s appeal was the fact that it was a bare-bones music streaming service, which made the process of playing music simpler, including the option of making a custom radio station for free.

Milk Music — which only existed in the U.S. — will be gone for good on September 22. Samsung will turn its focus towards investing in booming music services, such as Pandora and Spotify.

“We have made the strategic decision to invest in a partner model focused on seamlessly integrating the best music services available today into our family of Galaxy devices. We believe that working with partners will accelerate innovation, enhance device sales and provide amazing new experiences for our customers,” Samsung wrote in a blog post.

Meanwhile, Songza was acquired by Google (NASDAQ:GOOG,NASDAQ:GOOGL) two years ago and it has proven to be a unique streaming service due to its extensive and diverse number of playlists.

Pandora shares are booming 2.5% Monday as the company announced that it will be adding on-demand streaming to its fold.
