The Starbucks recall affects millions of its reusable stainless steel straws that were sold in sets of three. These straws were also included with the company’s stainless steel Grande 16-ounce cups and stainless steel Venti 24-ounce cups. The straws feature sharp ridges on them that keep them from coming out of the cup’s lid.

The cost of the stainless steel straws being recalled was roughly $6 for the set of three. The stainless steel Grande cups and stainless steel Venti cups were sold for between $11 and $30. Owners of the straws can’t resell them due to federal laws concerning voluntary and mandatory recalls in the United States.

There are two different sizes of the stainless steel straws that are being recalled by Starbucks. One is 9.5 inches long and the other is 10.4 inches in length. The company sold 2.5 million of the straws in the United States and an additional 301,000 in Canada. They were available for purchase at the company’s coffee stores and from its website.

The Starbucks stainless steel straws recall was issued after three reports were submitted of young children suffering from mouth lacerations after using them. Two of the injuries occurred in the United States and one occurred in Canada.

Starbucks is warning parents not to let children use or hold the stainless steel straws. Customers with questions about the recall can call 800-782-7282 from 3:00 a.m. to midnight Pacific Time every day of the week for more information.
