Target Corporation Pulls Kiddie Carts After Shopper Complaints

TargetTarget Corporation (NYSE:TGT) has gotten rid of kiddie carts following a number of complaints.

The retailer has announced that its popular kiddie carts — which were sized for children to push around — will no longer be in its stores due to the health hazard they pose to unsuspecting shoppers.

The company said it meant no ill doing when it conceived the idea of the carts, but the items have proven to be more harmful than beneficial as kids and other shoppers who don’t have the item in use have gotten injured recently.

Recent reviews and guest feedback on Target scores had plenty in common regarding the carts–no one wanted them there. The company first created them to keep kids entertained during shopping hours.

“At Target, our guests are at the center of everything we do, and we value their feedback,” said Molly Snyder, Target spokeswoman. The carts have been around since August.

One shopper made light of the experience — which she deemed as being a nightmare shopping time — in her piece “Stupid Tiny Carts.” Here is part of what the Minnesota blogger wrote:

“Seeing the demise of this Target Adventure, we quickly skirted to the food section. This is where Tiny Human really starts getting into it. Look! I can push the cart and it just GOES! On its own! And when I do it right where the aisle ends, people can’t see it coming! And listen to that fun noise when other carts hit mine! THIS IS AMAZING,” she wrote.

TGT stock is up 0.6% Friday.
