new Ford BroncoThe new Ford Bronco (NYSE:F) is slated to be released over the coming years.

The automaker announced that the SUV will hit showrooms in 2018, bringing back a vehicle that was big about 20 years ago before being discontinued. It will mark the return of a car that was an iconic Ford model for 30 years.

The first vehicle of its kind was introduced in 1966, and the last one was a 1996 model. The Ford Explorer was tabbed as the car to replace it.

The union and the carmaker negotiated recently to ensure that the new Ford Bronco will be built in the company’s Michigan assembly plant. The move follows criticism from Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump surrounding the company’s decision to produce plenty of its vehicles in Mexico.

CEO Mark Fields responded by noting that the company is ensuring that it is growing and adding production stateside. “We hate to see the products go to Mexico, but with the Ranger and the Bronco coming to Michigan Assembly that absolutely secures the future for our people a lot more than the Focus does,” he said.

Earlier this year, Fields noted that Ford was currently in production of four new SUVs, one of which is the new Ford Bronco.

F stock is up 0.5% Tuesday. The stock is off about 14% in 2016, which is significantly lower than the 6% increase of the S&P 500 Index.
