Dunkin’ Donuts (DNKN) Scores Deal With NHL

Dunkin’ Donuts — owned by Dunkin Brands Group Inc (NASDAQ:DNKN) — and the National Hockey League (NHL) have officially become partners.

Dunkin' DonutsThe donut and coffee restaurant has announced that it will be one of the hockey association’s official partners moving forward. A number of NHL events will include Dunkin’ Donuts products, including the league’s Centennial Celebration and the upcoming All-Star Game.

The company already has the Boston Bruins as one of its partners. The partnership between the company and hockey professionals will be further cemented by Bruins center David Backeswill and New York Rangers captain Ryan McDonagh, who will be the national spokespeople for Dunkin’ Donuts.

Additionally, women’s national hockey team captain Meghan Duggan will also be part of the deal as all three of these athletes will appear on Dunkin’ Donuts ads, beginning on Jan. 2.

“As the NHL celebrates its Centennial year, we are thrilled to be partnering with such an iconic league, giving our fans many more opportunities to engage with their favorite hockey teams,” said Dunkin’ Brands VP Tom Manchester in a statement Monday. “NHL fans, much like Dunkin’ Donuts fans, are some of the most loyal, energetic and passionate fans around.”

Some Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants will begin selling NHL-branded products. The company also has a multimillion deal that will span a number of years with NBC Sports.

DNKN shares fell 2.1% on Monday afternoon.
