McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE:MCD) is planning to start delivering meals to customers next year.

McDonald's Corporation, MCD, McDonald's Delivery

Starting in January, the fast food company will be delivering meals to customers living in three cities in Florida. These cities are Orlando, Tampa and Miami. The deliveries will be made with the help of UberEATS.

The new service will allow customers to place orders through UberEATS app or website. This will allow customers to have their food from McDonald’s Corporation delivered to them from roughly 200 restaurants located in the three test cities.

Florida customers that order meals through the UberEATS website will be able to track their orders while the delivery is taking place. McDonald’s Corporation is going to gauge customer feedback to the service. This will determine if the fast food chain chooses to expand the delivery service to more areas, reports USA Today.

Customers ordering off of McDonald’s Corporation’s menu won’t be able to get every item. They won’t be able to order ice cream from the restaurant. Certain promotional deals, such as McPick2 offer, also won’t be available for delivery.

“They need to somehow make the experience seamless to their customers,” Darren Tristano, President of market research firm Technomic, told Crain’s Chicago Business while speaking of McDonald’s Corporation delivery test. “The demand is there, and if you don’t offer it to them, they’ll go somewhere else.”

The decision to test delivery is likely a good idea for McDonald’s Corporation. 70% of its customers already chose to eat their meals away from the restaurant.
