19 Stocks Wall Street Wants to Own

To determine which stocks the smart money on Wall Street is buying, I use a stock screen that looks at a number of variables, including:

1. An increased amount of coverage by brokerage firms and analysts; and

2.Upgrades on a regular basis.

To prove the importance of this particular stock screen, of the 17 that were on the list the previous time this screen was run, the average return from Aug. 25 through Sept. 16 was an impressive 10% against the market’s return of 6.5%.

Of those stocks listed above, Whitney Holding Corp. (NASDAQ: WTNY) is attempting to put in a bottom, while Enterprise Products Partners L.P. (NYSE: EPD) has an incredible trend marked with higher highs and lower lows.

Other stocks worth paying attention to are FBL Financial Group (NYSE: FFG) and National Grid plc (NYSE: NGG), both of which have cup-and-handle patterns forming. And Empr Bras Aeronautica (NYSE: ERJ) and Windstream Corporation (NASDAQ: WIN) are breaking out of price consolidation.
