Here are a few stocks to keep on your radar Wednesday:
- Vertex Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:VRTX) shares shot 14.6% higher after the company reported Phase III data from a study that showed improved lung function in patients with the gene that causes cystic fibrosis.
- DirecTV (NYSE:DTV) was up 4% after the company said it beat fourth-quarter earnings estimates. The company added 667,000 net subscribers during the quarter — its largest gain in 10 years.
- Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ) shares were down nearly 11% after the company offered up a profit report late Tuesday that included a weak fiscal second-quarter forecast. The company cited weak consumer spending on PCs.
- Telecom equipment maker Oclaro (NASDAQ:OCLR) was up 6.8% after a mention by Jim Cramer on his CNBC Mad Money program. Cramer cited the stock chart “with the most potential” in a sector that is seeing a boom from fewer players and the huge need for more bandwidth.
- Shares of Duncan Energy Parnters (NYSE:DEP) jumped almost 23% higher to $40.02 after the company received a buyout offer of $42 a share from Enterprise Products Partners (NYSE:EPD).
