Next Christmas: Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is working on its own TV set and will launch the device in time for next year’s holiday shopping season, CNET notes. Piper Jaffray (NYSE:PJC) analyst Gene Munster says Apple will introduce the new TV in November 2013. Munster had earlier predicted a launch this year. The TV is anticipated to come in several screen sizes between 42 inches and 55 inches, and retail between $1,500 and $2,000. A key selling point for the Apple-branded TV will be its ability to connect with a variety of other devices, including iPads and iPhones. The TV will feature FaceTime video chatting and Apple’s Siri voice assistant. Munster also expects it to come with unbundled channel options. While analysts have been predicting an Apple TV for some time, the market continues to see rapidly falling prices, making entry for a high-end product potentially risky.

Way Too High: HTC CEO Peter Chou has denied reports that his company is paying licensing fees of $8 a smartphone under its recent deal with Apple, eWeek notes. Earlier this month, the two companies announced a 10-year licensing deal that brought an end to various patent infringement lawsuits. Chou said the rumored payments to Apple were “outrageous,” “baseless,” and “very, very wrong.” However, he declined to say exactly what HTC was paying Apple under the deal. Chou said he was happy with the settlement and called it a “good ending.” Analysts have speculated that Apple’s deal with HTC could serve as a model for resolving its patent litigation with Samsung and Google‘s (NASDAQ:GOOG) Motorola.

Thanksgiving Deals: Apple will offer one-day Black Friday discounts at both its online and physical Apple Stores, NBC News notes. The company hasn’t revealed details of the discounts that will be available this year, but last year it slashed prices on its Macs by $101, and trimmed iPad prices by between $41 and $61, depending on the model. Apple routinely offers Black Friday sales. Consumers can begin receiving Black Friday discounts at Apple’s online store after 3 a.m. EST/12 a.m. PST. The bricks-and-mortar Apple Stores will be open for extended hours on Friday.
