FB: Facebook Suffers Worldwide Outage

Facebook (FB) was hit with a worldwide outage that left users offline for about 30 minutes this morning.

“Sorry, something went wrong,” an error message read. “We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.”

The FB outage affected both its online site and its FB app.

Facebook has yet to announce just why the outage happened. At the same time, the outage was the longest since FB went down in 2010.

The outage didn’t just impact the U.S. but countries worldwide such as Israel, Ireland, and others in Southeast Asia.

In fact, #Facebookdown began trending all over the world on Twitter just moments after the social media giant went offline.

The widespread response downed site underscores just how significant and important the social media site has become — not only the individual users who communicate online, but to businesses who push their brand and advertisements through the site.

FB stock is down 1.3% in morning trading, though FB has been feeling good in recent months with its revenue, which increased more than 70% in April to $2.5 billion.

FB stock is up 18% year to date.
