Portland’s City Council has approved a franchise agreement with Google that could bring Google Fiber to the city. The tech company likely won’t give a final decision on moving into the area until later this year. The agreement doesn’t force the company to provide Google Fiber to all of the city, reports PC Magazine.

If Google does decide to extend Google Fiber into the city, it will offer free internet to residents after a one-time fee of $300. The company would also provide Google Fiber to certain nonprofit organizations for free and would put three wi-fi areas in the town. Google will still have to pay the 5% franchise fee in the town, but ti would avoid the PEG fee, PC Magazine notes.

Portland is only one of 34 cities that may be getting Google Fiber. Other locations being eyed by Google include Austin, Texas; Salt Lake City, Utah; Phoenix, Arizona and more. Google is also looking to bring Fiber to nine metro areas.
