Amazon (AMZN) has hired former White House Press Secretary Jay Carney.
He will be the online retailer’s new senior vice president and head of global corporate affairs, the company announced Thursday. Carney left the White House until 2013.
Since his departure, the former journalist has worked with CNN
as a political analyst, supporting President Obama. He will give up his position with the news outlet to focus on Amazon.
Carney begins his new position Monday. He will split time between the retailer’s offices in Washington, DC and its Seattle headquarters.
AMZN stock is up 0.1% Thursday.
