The man behind a website dedicated to revenge porn is expected to spend 18 years in jail.
Kevin Bollaert’s revenge porn website is UGotPosted.com. The website contained pornographic images of couples after the relationships had ended. Bollaert would only remove images from the website if a person was willing to pay him $350, reports BBC News.
Bollaert faced claims from eight women that had been featured on his website. He was hit with several counts of ID theft and extortion. Bollaert also has to pay a $10,000 fine and $15,000 in restitution to victims, BBC News notes.
“This serves as a deterrent to other people thinking of operating revenge porn websites,” Charlotte Laws, an activist against revenge porn, told Dallas Morning News. “It sends the message that there are consequences when you exploit victims and engage in illegal activity of this sort.”
