Amazon’s decision to remove Kodi from its app store is due to piracy concerns. The app itself isn’t illegal, but third-party add-ons can be downloaded that allow users to pirate movies and music through it, reports TorrentFreak.

Kodi is working to put an end to third-party add-ons that allow piracy. It’s also near the finalization of its trademark filing, which it claims will make it easier to combat the piracy add-ons. The Kodi team said that Amazon’s claim was “absurd”, TorrentFreak notes.

The Kodi app can still be downloaded to Google’s (GOOG) Android via the Play Store. The company also offers several other versions of the app for download via its website.
