apple-rumors-patent-liquidmetal-fastener-aaplBeta: Apple (AAPL) has released the fourth OS X El Capitan 10.11.1 beta to developers and public beta testers, reports 9to5Mac. The new beta can be downloaded from the Mac App Store or from the Developer Center. The beta lets developers and public beta testers see early ideas for what’s in store in the next update to OS X El Capitan. Users won’t be able to revert to older software once the new update is installed and are advised to have their data backed up in case of problems.

Glitch: Some Apple iOS users have noted that their devices’ batteries are being drained by the Facebook (FB) app, MacRumors notes. Facebook has acknowledged that there is a problem with its iOS app that is causing it to drain users’ batteries faster than normal. This glitch is causing the iOS app to continue to drain a users battery even when they aren’t using it. Users that have set their device not to allow refreshing of background apps have still noted that the app is draining their batteries.

Patent: Apple has been granted a patent for a Liquidmetal fastener, reports AppleInsider. The patent details a system that would allow the tech company to seal its devices in a way that would make it hard for owners, or others, to open the device. The company could use this to seal its devices so that owners couldn’t make changes to them after buying them. It could also be used as a way for AAPL to discourage thieves from stealing its products. The system works with Liquidmetal hooks and loops.
