Amazon (AMZN) has released a new video ad of its Amazon drone delivery process.
In the video, a family uses the Amazon drone delivery service to order a pair of soccer shoes for their daughter after the family dog ate one of them. The whole story of the video is presented by former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson.
The video also shows off the new Amazon delivery drone. This new drone is a hybrid that can take off vertically and they fly to the delivery location. The drone has sensors that allow it to avoid obstacles in the air and will scan the customer’s yard to find an appropriate landing spot.
After the Amazon delivery drones drops off the package in 30 minutes or less, if takes off again vertically and flies back to a fulfillment center. The drone in the video can fly for up to 15 miles. The video presents the use of the drone as a possible future for deliveries from the online retailer.
