Pink said that UNICEF has been in her mind for the last 15 years and was inspired to work with them after a trip to Haiti to visit malnourished children. The singer has her own four-year-old daughter and said she was her inspiration for becoming an ambassador for the charity, reports ABC News.

Pink has worked with UNICEF before as a spokesperson for its Kid Power program. Other celebrities, including  Sarah Jessica Parker and Selena Gomez, have signed up as UNICEF ambassadors in the past, ABC News notes.

“They’re so ready to fix their world. They just keep going. Kids are so resilient, Pink told People Magazine

. “I sat with this little 4- or 5-year-old. And she just held her hands on my face and sang to me. She’s living in a one-room shack with her entire family and hardly any food, and she’s taking the time to sit with me and sing with me. The kids give me the most hope.”
