Spotify Premium users have their personal information compromised as they are victims of a hack.
The details of hundreds of Spotify accounts have been compromised as an unknown hacker has leaked them online. A Pastebin user called ‘Drakia12’ has posted email addresses, passwords, account types and renewal dates on the website on Feb. 15.
Pastebin is a website that often hosts data dumps from hacking groups such as Anonymous. This information was also listed by Twitter account @hacked_emails on Feb. 17.
“We monitor Pastebin and other sites regularly,” the company told IBTimes UK. “When we find Spotify credentials, we first verify that they are authentic, and if they are, we immediately notify affected users to change their passwords. That is what happened this week.”
Spotify has yet to publicly comment on the leak. The company previously fell victim to a hack in November 2015 when over a thousand email addresses and passwords were leaked.
The music streaming service surpassed the 20-million subscriber mark on June 2015.
Spotify recently partnered with Google to give out
free Chromecasts for certain Premium users.
