Instagram, which is owned by Facebook Inc (FB), has announced that it’s switching how posts show up in feeds.
The change at Instagram will make it so that posts that the social media service believes users’ want to see will show up near the top of their feeds. This is a switch from the current system, which posts content newest to oldest.
The hopes of the social media company is that it will be able to show users posts from sources they care about more that they may have missed. This includes public figures and friends’ posts. It claims that users miss 70% of content in their feeds.
Instagram said that the changes will start occurring over the next few months. It will also be making changes to the system based on user feedback.
Here’s how some users reacted to news of the change on Twitter Inc
(TWTR).
- “I can’t decide if this is good or bad”
- “You know that thing that’s not broken.. we’re gunna fix it.”
- “Facebook is facebooking Instagram. Thanks #MarkZuckerberg”
- “That’s what made me give up Facebook!”
- “‘How To Kill A Great App’ – by @facebook”
