U.S. News & World Report has released a new list of the 20 best hospitals for 2016 to 2017 in the United States.
The new list of top-notch hospitals is called the “Best Hospitals Honor Roll” and there are 20 different hospitals on the list. The publication says that this list is mean to act as a companion to its normal national rankings of the best hospitals in the United States. That list was first released in 1990 and has been updated every year since.
Hospitals on the Honor Roll list received points to determine their rank. These points were distributed based on a variety of factors. This includes national rankings and procedure and condition ratings. Points are also handed out for how well hospitals perform in 16 different specialty areas. More points are awarded to higher rated hospitals.
Here are the 10 best hospitals from the Honor Roll list for 2016 to 2017.
- Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn. — This hospital received a score of 418 points.
- Cleveland Clinic — This hospital received a score of 378 points.
- Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston — This hospital received a score of 371 points.
- Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore — This hospital received a score of 349 points.
- UCLA Medical Center — This hospital received a score of 331 points.
- New York-Presbyterian University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell — This hospital received a score of 296 points.
- UCSF Medical Center, San Francisco — This hospital received a score of 273 points.
- Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago — This hospital received a score of 266 points.
- Hospitals of the University of Pennsylvania-Penn Presbyterian, Philadelphia — This hospital received a score of 252 points.
- NYU Langone Medical Center, New York — This hospital received a score of 247 points.
