The fast food giant is following in the footsteps of other industry giants such as Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX) to promote its products using a slightly different technique than its rivals.
While other companies are not focusing on the brand as much, McDonald’s is showcasing the manner in which some of its most popular products are made, including where they come from, how they’re prepared, what ingredients go into making them and what they mean to the industry.
The burger restaurant turned its attention to the Egg McMuffin on the first episode, with the son of the creator unveiling how the breakfast favorite came to be. In 1972, his father designed the product based on his love for Eggs Benedict by wanting to create a version of the product in the form of a sandwich.
The idea of having a circular English Muffin with everything else in the same shape came after he received help from a local blacksmith to make a puck-shaped product. The egg is cooked freshly every day, hand-cracked into a puck-shaped creation.
On future episodes, McDonald’s will delve into the Idaho farms where its famous French fries and other potato-based products are created.
The company added that it will shed some light towards the moves its made recently to improve the way its food is made.
MCD stock is up 0.3% Tuesday.
