A live action Candy Crush TV game show will be coming to CBS Corporation’s (NYSE:CBS) network.

Candy Crush SagaThe new Candy Crush game show will be based on the popular game video game made by King Digital Entertainment, which is owned by Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATVI). The show will be produced by Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. (USA) (NYSE:LGF) with Matt Kunitz acting as its creator and executive producer.

Kunitz is planning to incorporate elements from various other TV game shows that he has created into the Candy Crush one. This includes inspiration from Wipeout and Fear Factor. Sebastian Knutsson, the creator of the video game, will also be an executive producer for the show.

“The Candy Crush franchise lends itself perfectly to the kind of larger-than-life, physical game shows that I love to produce and CBS is the perfect home for it,” Kunitz told The Hollywood Reporter. “As a Candy Crush Saga player myself, I am excited to amp up the action and visuals in our huge Candy Crush Arena.”

It is still currently unknown when the Candy Crush TV game show will air. There also hasn’t been any announcement on who will host the upcoming game show. It also sounds like the show will try to keep a close feel to the video game, rather than just cashing on on brand recognition.

Live action TV game shows with a focus on video games have existed in the past. You Don’t Know Jack, Starcade, Nick Arcade, and Video Power are perfect examples of this. However, its been more than 10 years since any of these shows were on the air.
