Shaquille O’Neal Buys Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Franchise in Atlanta

Shaquille O’Neal has acquired a Krispy Kreme Doughnuts (NYSE:KKD) franchise located in Atlanta.

Shaquille O'NealThe 4-time NBA champion has always been vocal about his love for the restaurant’s donuts and coffee. Now, he owns his own Krispy Kreme franchise located in downtown Atlanta.

The historic Ponce de Leon Avenue location has been around for more than 60 years. However, O’Neal’s partnership goes deeper than the Atlanta location as he will officially become the global sponsor of the brand.

“In addition to Shaquille’s status as a sports and entertainment icon and businessman, he is known for spreading joy, which aligns with our positioning and mission,” said Tony Thompson, president and CEO of Krispy Kreme. “We are confident this partnership will have a big impact for us in Atlanta and around the world.”

The partnership will be further cemented by a Halloween-themed social media campaign called “Shaq-or-Treat.” Customers can use the hashtag #ShaqOrTreat between Oct. 28 and 31 on their Halloween-related posts if they wish to be considered for some “Krispy Kreme surprises” and O’Neal-autographed items.

“Krispy Kreme prides itself on spreading joy and supporting local communities, and that’s a cause that I am thrilled to be a part of,” Shaq said regarding the partnership. “Our goal is to help people find their happy place, and what better way than with a box of delicious doughnuts.”

Shaquille O’Neal also has partnerships with Reebok, Icy Hot and The General.

KKD shares are trading flat Monday afternoon.
