Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is launching a new service that is essentially Uber for trucks.

Amazon.com, Inc.The app looks to cut out the middleman as it will link up trucks with shipping services. Packages that need to be delivered, as well as freight will be loaded up into a truck that Amazon will join forces with.

The company can then take the package directly from its warehouses to these trucks, making it easier to deliver items via truck. The service will launch in summer 2017.

Truck drivers can use it to grab some extra money, connecting them with companies that need delivery services. Its comparison with Uber stems from the fact that the transportation service helps to find drivers nearby customers who are in need of a ride.

The move is part of a broader effort by Amazon to grow in the logistics world, an effort that the company is also doing with drones that deliver items straight to your homes. Uber Freight is a similar service that allows for items to be delivered without a middleman, offering shippers the price of how much it will be to transport based on current rates of supply and demand.

Amazon has come a long way since its days of being a small e-commerce company as most countries around the world have its services, and now this as well to boot.

AMZN stock fell 0.5% Friday.
