The 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees have been announced.
The upcoming selection of bands and artists that will be immortalized with a highly-coveted place in the Hall is highlighted with Pearl Jam, which set the word aflame with their early 1990s release Ten. The album is one of the defining albums of grunge music and the 1990s, along with Nirvana and Nevermind.
Rap icons are often considered as candidates for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and one of the greatest voices of the 1990s has made the list in Tupac Shakur. Much like Kurt Cobain, Tupac had a brief life, but the success and notoriety he garnered in his short career is rivaled by none.
In order to make it to the Hall, you must be eligible for at least 25 years, meaning it is necessary for their first album to be a quarter-decade long. Other Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees for 2017 include Yes, Electric Light Orchestra and Joan Baez.
Yes split up a while ago, but the induction ceremony is often seen as an opportunity for bands to reunite for one last show to relive their glory days. Although nothing has been confirmed by the band, a Yes reunion has a good chance of happening.
Other inductees include Journey, and Nile Rodgers who will receive an award for musical excellence at the event.
