Boring Company: Elon Musk Shares First Tunnel Photo

The image was shared by Musk via his official Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) account on Saturday. He notes that the picture was taken the day before he posted it. The image shows the tunnel that is being built under Los Angeles.

The Boring Company is Elon Musk’s project to create underground transportation systems to make getting around in busy towns easier. The idea came about late last year after the Tesla Inc CEO was stuck in traffic.

A series of Tweets from Musk in late 2016 had him saying that he really was interested in creating tunnels to deal with traffic problems in larger cities. Following his statements via Twitter on the matter, Musk updated his bio to include tunnels.

Elon Musk’s plans for the underground tunnels in L.A may not be what you’re expecting. The Tesla CEO isn’t planning on adding a subway, or at least not in the traditional sense. Instead, he is looking to create a transportation system for cars.

The tunnels under L.A. would house railways and pods. Passengers would be able to part their cars in these pods to have them quickly transported across the town. This will allow them the advantages of a subway, without having to hail a an Uber once the underground portion of the trip is complete.
