More iPhones Sold Each Day Then Babies Are Born: Strategic Analytics says that in the five years since it launched, the iPhone has generated $150 billion in revenue for Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), Apple Insider reports. The company has now shipped 250 million iPhones, worldwide. Still, analysts worry that rising smartphone competition and wireless carrier complaints about iPhone subsidies could dampen future growth. British retailer VoucherCodes.com has calculated that iPhone sales have outpaced global births on a daily basis.

Apple Betting $1 billion on Nevada: Apple is planning to build a new data center in Reno, Nevada, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal. The company will locate its cloud computing service in the new center. It will also open business offices in downtown Reno. The new center will be part of a ten-year, $1 billion investment plan the company has for assets in Northern Nevada. The state and local governments will provide $89 million in tax abatement for the projects.

Google to Unveil New iPad Rival: Internet search giant Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) will debut a tablet developed in partnership with Taiwan’s Asustek Computer at a conference this week, Bloomberg says. The Google tablet will be priced at $199 and is directly targeting the iPad. Earlier this month, Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) unveiled its own competitor to the iPad, the Surface. Analysts said that the tablet market constituted a “major challenge” for Google as Android-based tablets have so far failed to overtake the iPad’s overwhelming dominance of the market.
