The Apple Lucky bag promotion is part of a Japanese tradition called “fukubukuro.” The tradition sees retailers selling bags of products to customers for heavily discounted prices. There’s no way of knowing what’s in the bags prior to purchasing them, reports Digital Trends.

Last year’s Apple Lucky Bag promotion included four different types of bags that cost close to $345 a piece. Those who bought the bags earned several goodies and items like an iPod nano, MacBook Air and iPad Air. 2015’s promotion will start on Jan. 2, Digital Trends notes.

The Apple Lucky Bag promotion can definitely grab customers some good deals and could be a great boon to resellers. However, the company’s policy notes that it can refuse to sell to someone if it believes that they plan to resell the items bought in the promotion. More Luck Bag policies can be read here.
