Facebook (FB) has apologized for problems with its ‘Year in Review’ feature.
The Facebook Year in Review is designed to remind users about their happiest memories in the last year. However, for some, it’s only bringing up bad memories. Some have reported the feature putting the spotlight on dead relatives or painful moments, reports The Guardian.
Facebook has apologized for these issues and has made changes to Year in Review. One such change has the comment at the end of the post saying “See you next year!” rather than “It’s been a great year! Thanks for being a part of it!”, The Guardian
notes.
“My Year In Review came up with a photo I’d posted following my Nonna’s unexpected passing recently,” a woman told The Daily Mail. “It struck me as ill-considered, because their algorithm clearly can’t distinguish why an image has been used.”
FB shares were down 1% as of Monday afternoon.
