IMAX (IMAX) has pushed back the launch of its exclusive Game of Thrones screening.
The one-week theatrical release of the HBO show was originally slated to begin Jan. 23. IMAX announced that it will now begin Jan. 29 in order to expand the screening to more theaters.
The original plan was to show the last two episodes of Game of Thrones season 4 in 150 locations. The series will now be available in 200 theaters due to an “extraordinary consumer response,” according to IMAX.
Screenings will take place in the following cities:
- Atlanta
- Boston
- Chicago
- Dallas
- Denver
- Houston
- Las Vegas
- Los Angeles
- Miami
- Montreal
- New York
- San Antonio
- Seattle
- Toronto
- Washington, D.C.
Game of Thrones fans who attend a screening will also watch an exclusive trailer of season 5.
IMAX stock is down 2.6% Wednesday afternoon.
