Tinder Smart Photos are a new way to help you choose what selfies you want to use on the site.
The app relies on data to help determine who your most compatible partner it is, and now there’s a new feature called Smart Photos that essentially looks at your images and helps you pick the winners.
The feature was announced in a blog post this morning, and it’s an algorithm that puts your most popular images first, then continues to test your profile pics to see which ones will be successful in the dating game.
Additionally, it looks at users’ “swiping patterns,” which looks at the type of pictures that someone usually swipes right for, then matches that data with your images. For example, if someone likes men with striped shirts, it will put your image of a blue striped shirt first.
The developers behind the new Tinder functionality noted that choosing what images work better for you is not that weird, but examining your swiping patterns is quite weird.
Tinder has competition now in the form of another dating app that helps those in look for a real relationship rather than a hook up, which is where a large portion of Tinder users sit.
The new app came to life as many women complained that they were sexually harassed on Tinder. Also, the new app isn’t quite as creepy.
