Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has added Microsoft Teams to its list of offerings.

The company is not looking to usurp anyone with the move, but the app is eerily similar to another app, turning heads in Silicon Valley. Here are five things to know about the service:
- Microsoft Teams is a private chat app that allows for conferences to happen digitally in a professional environment.
- The app is part of Microsoft Office, arriving in as a new suite for the app with no additional cost.
- The offering is very similar to Slack, but CEO Satya Nadella said it is not his intention to steal business from another company. Instead, the boss says that it is his job to ensure that Microsoft Office continues garnering subscribers.
- However, Microsoft Teams may become the automatic choice for professional environments due to the fact that the company has a recognizable name, while Slack is still building its reputation.
- Something that is tangible in terms of where Microsoft has the edge is digital security as the company has built itself an impressive security system.
Having a bigger name does not guarantee that Microsoft will do better as other companies have started from the bottom and become the best in the business at what they do. Slack has about four million active daily users, 1.25 million of which are paying for the software.
MSFT shares fell 0.3% Wednesday.
