Harry Reid, Senator of Nevada, thinks that Tesla Motors (TSLA) may be “playing” the state.
According to Reid, Tesla may be playing the state as it starts a “bidding war” between Texas and California in an effort to land the company’s new gigafactory. The Senator believes that this is all part of CEO Elon Musk’s plans to get the “best deal” he can for the company, reports Business Insider.
Musk has admitted that a construction pad for the gigafactory has been set up in Nevada. However, work at the site has stopped as the company waits for additional moves from Nevada, Business Insider notes.
“I would not start counting jobs on Tesla now, anyway,” Reid told the Reno Gazette-Journal. “I will say, I’m not sure they aren’t playing us.”
