Several members of the cast for Twenty-First Century Fox’s (FOX, FOXA) Batman series, Gotham, have been announced.
The Gotham series will act as a prequel to Time Warner’s (TWX) Warner Bros. Batman films. The pilot episode was written by Bruno Heller, who will be staying on as the series’ executive producer, reports Entertainment Weekly.

Ben McKenzie will play the role of Det. Gordon in the Batman series. Gotham’s Gordon will be a younger version of Gordon that isn’t yet Gotham’s Police Commissioner, Entertainment Weekly notes.
McKenzie has previously appeared as Officer Ben Sherman in Southland, Tom in Decoding Annie Parker and he also provided the voice for Batman/Bruce Wayne in the animated film, Batman: Year One.
Robin Lord Taylor will play the roll of Oswald Cobblepot –aka the Penguin– in the upcoming Batman series. Gotham’s version of the Penguin will be a gangster with high intelligence that has a lust for power, reports Entertainment Weekly.
Taylor has previously appeared in The Walking Dead, Law & Order and The Good Wife.
Zabryna Guevara will play the role of Det. Gordon’s boss, Captain Essen. Captain Essen is a police officer that works in the Gotham City Police Department’s Homicide Squad, Entertainment Weekly notes.
Guevara’s previous roles include Ayn in Burn Notice, Aracely Oriol in Yelling to the Sky and Mrs. Alvarado in Pariah.
Sean Pertwee will play the role of Alfred Pennyworth in the upcoming Batman series. Gotham’s version of Alfred has him as an ex-marine from East London that serves as the Wayne Family’s butler, reports Entertainment Weekly.
Pertwee has previously appeared as Sir George Stubbs in Agatha Christie: Poirot, Pete in The Magnificent Eleven and Charlie in the TV series Jo.
Erin Richards will play the role of Barbara Kean in Gotham. Barbara is an emergency room doctor that is also the fiance of Det. Gordon, Entertainment Weekly notes.
Richards has also appeared in Being Human as Nancy Reid, Breaking In as Molly Hughes and Open Grave as Sharon.
