The study was based on a case involving a woman from Germany that was admitted to a hospital in Berlin. The woman was admitted to the hospital after a mental breakdown. She hasn’t had trouble with psychosis before, but her family says she became obsessed with Twitter about a year ago, reports Business Insider.

The study doesn’t claim that Twitter can cause psychosis, but that it instead can lead to it for those who are vulnerable to the mental illness and are already in a a questionable psychological state. The woman in the case recovered from her mental illness and lost all interest in the social media website, Business Insider notes.

“At this point Twitter psychosis is not ‘real,'” Dr. Jan Kalbitzer, from the Charité – Universitätsmedizin hospital in Berlin, told NBC News. “This is a single case which we presented to the medical community to discuss with colleagues if they have made similar experiences.”
