Microsoft (MSFT) Delays Xbox One Launch in China

Microsoft (MSFT) has delayed the launch of the Xbox One in China from September 23 to later this year.

According to Polygon, Microsoft chose to delay the release of the Xbox One in China to allow for more time to tailor the console to users’ needs. Customers who have preordered the gaming console in China will be the first to receive it when the company’s does decide to launch it.

China is a new market for video game consoles as a law that prevented the sale of consoles made outside of the country prevented them from being sold for over 10 years. Microsoft is teaming up with BesTV, a Chinese entertainment firm, to launch the device. Sony (SNE) and Nintendo (NTDOY) have also announced plans to release consoles in China, reports Polygon.

The Xbox One will launch for $600 in China. This is a 50% increased when compared to the price of the gaming device in the United States.

MSFT shares were down slightly as of Monday afternoon.
