According to Stubb, Apple has caused the country’s economy to weaken by limiting exports of paper and Nokia. He claims that these are two of the country’s biggest exports and that despite the damage done by the tech company, the Finland’s economy will turn around, reports TechCrunch.

While Stubb did blame Apple for the decline of Finland’s economy, he also said that tough times will help with innovation in the country. He also noted that Nokia will likely strengthen now that it’s owned by Microsoft (MSFT) and that bio energy will help with the return of its forest, TechCrunch notes.

Nokia’s strong performance in the late 1990s and early 2000s was a boon for Finland’s economy. However, the cellphone maker started losing its hold on the market due to competition. Production of paper in the country has also been falling in the last few year as tablets offer competition for traditional newspaper printing, CNBC notes.
