Supreme Court to Rule Whether Amazon (AMZN) Employees Should Be Paid for Time Spent in Security Screening Lines

The Supreme Court is expected to hear arguments on if Amazon (AMZN) employees should be paid for their time spent in security screening lines on Wednesday.

The warehouse employees claim that this process can take up to 25 minutes to complete, but the company says it doesn’t take near as long, reports Bloomberg.

There are actually several lawsuits against Amazon from warehouse employees that feel they should be compensated for their time in security lines. These cases are currently on hold until the Supreme Court weighs in on the matter, Bloomberg notes.

“If the employer wanted to sing the company song, or post tweets about Amazon online or take French class — anything the employer requires you to do, they have to pay you for,” Eric Schnapper, a law professor at the University of Washington and an attorney representing the warehouse employees, told KPLU.
