As the spooky holiday approaches, parents should warn their children to reject pieces of candy that have not been packed in a sealed commercial grade bag. Homemade wrappers draw suspicion over what exactly is in the pieces of candy.

Denver residents are especially wary of marijuana-laced Halloween candy this year because marijuana is legal there. Police warn that it can be impossible to tell the difference between regular treats and drug-infused candy.

Several children ended up in a Canada emergency room after consuming lollipops laced with synthetic marijuana.

Authorities recommend that parents always check their children’s candy after trick or treating.
