Microsoft (MSFT) CEO Satya Nadella is earning a massive pay package worth a reported $84.3 million.
Most of Nadella’s compensation package is comprised of one-time stock awards that he can’t access until 2019. He became the new Microsoft CEO in February.
The stock awards were offered to Satya Nadella when he became CEO as incentives. These awards amount to a whopping $79.8 million.
Satya Nadella will receive $59.2 million as part of an incentive deal that will stretch over seven years and depends on MSFT stock’s performance. He will receive a further $13.5 million to stay with Microsoft as the company searches for a new CEO.
The rest of Nadella’s package includes $11.6 million this year comprised of $918,000 in salary, a $3.6 million cash bonus and an annual stock award, currently valued at $7 million.
The move comes a couple of weeks after Nadella apologized for advising women to not ask for raises and trust in “karma” instead.
MSFT stock is up 2% Tuesday afternoon.
