SBUX, DNKN: Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts to Add Dinner to the Menu

Starbucks (SBUX) and Dunkin’ Donuts (DNKN) plan on expanding their dinner menus in 2015.

StarbucksDunkin’ Donuts plans on adding more dinner items that customers can enjoy on-the-go. The restaurant is considering adding products that have been successful overseas such as rice pudding-stuffed donuts and saffron-glazed donuts.

“Though breakfast remains our core, today people are seeking all-day dining, and they want to eat what they want, when they want it and where they want it,” said John Costello, Dunkin’ Donuts president of global marketing and innovation.

Starbucks is also planning on increasing its presence at night with more dinner items. The chain currently has 10 small plates to share as dinner options in addition to a variety of wines and beers.

“We saw strong growth in the midday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., and this is another encouraging sign that our food and beverage innovations are geared towards expanding the afternoon day part are gaining momentum with customers,” said Starbucks chief operating officer Troy Alstead during the company’s recent earnings call.

SBUX stock is up 0.23% Monday afternoon. DNKN stock is up 0.53%.
